Kathmandu, Nepal, July 17, 2023: The President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, took part in a ceremony to bid farewell to fencer Payas Yonjan who left on Sunday, July 16 for the FIE World Senior Fencing Championships in Milan, Italy.
Payas, who is an Olympic Solidarity Scholarship holder and participates in sabre, will first take part in an International Fencing Federation training camp in Milan before he suits up for the World Championships from July 22 to 30.
President Shrestha gave his best wishes to Payas and said this was a great opportunity for the fencer as the World Championships was also a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Payas received a tracksuit and shoes from the NOC President. Also taking part in the ceremony were NOC Vice President and Executive Director Chaturananda Rajvaidya and Nepal Fencing Association President Sunil Raj Shrestha.
