SF&OC Sports Legacy presents summer sports carnival in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China, July 15, 2023: The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China is holding a summer sports carnival at Olympian City 2 to inspire children to take up sport and to promote the Olympic spirit throughout the community.

The carnival, which is being organised in association with the SF&OC Sports Legacy Company Limited and the Youth Olympians Programme, is taking place from July 13-16. 

It is supported by strategic and sponsoring partner Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, venue sponsor Olympian City of Sino Group and Yau Tsim Mong District Office.

The opening ceremony was attended by SF&OC President Timothy Fok, Prof. Herman Hu, Chairman of Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Department Committee, Ms. Joey Chu, Assistant District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong) and Ms. Andrea Leung, Group General Manager (Marketing) of Sino Group.

In addition, current and former national team members such as cyclist Lee Wai Sze, gymnasts Shek Wai Hung and Ng Kiu Chung and breakdancer Tsang Tsz Wa (B-Boy Think) demonstrated their skills to inspire the children, ignite their passion for sports and empower students to develop perseverance and courage to pursue their dreams.

Mr. Fok said: “We are excited to launch this event with the aim of promoting a post-pandemic community-wide sports campaign. Our goal is to encourage everyone to develop a regular exercise routine, embrace the joy of physical activity and rally together in support of Hong Kong athletes as they compete in the upcoming major sports events. 

“Let's stand united and cheer on the Hong Kong, China delegation together. With just over two months remaining until the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games, scheduled for September 23, this year's Hong Kong, China delegation will be the largest ever, showcasing our athletes' remarkable talents.”

The Olympic Committee President pointed out that the SF&OC had launched the “Road to Hangzhou Asian Games” on YouTube and social media platforms to rally support for the athletes.

“Throughout the Asian Games, we will closely follow the latest updates on the Hong Kong, China delegation, sharing captivating stories of our local athletes. Additionally, we will provide comprehensive and exciting event information for the public,” added Mr. Fok.
