Mongolia NOC joins world sports journalists’ day celebrations

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, July 12, 2023: The Mongolian National Olympic Committee, in cooperation with the Mongolian Sports Press Union, celebrated World Sports Journalists Day on July 2, 2023 in Ulaanbaatar.

The press union was founded in 1990. B. Tsagaanbaatar, MSPU President, made a welcome speech at the opening ceremony in the presence of J. Otgontsagaan (Mongolia NOC Adviser), O. Baasan (State Committee of Physical Education & Sport, Head of Department); M. Bold (Mongolian Football Federation, President); Ch. Otgonbaatar (Mongolian Modern Pentathlon Federation, President) and D. Batjargal (MSPU Secretary General).

MSPU organised two competitions in football and laser shooting at Jose Marti football field. 

The football match was won by Team "Moogii", which beat "Uuganaa" in a penalty shootout after a 4-4 draw. 

The modern pentathlon's laser shooting was introduced for the first time for sports journalists and the competition was very exciting and attractive among all participants. The winners are for men, A. Erkhembayar, B. Munkh-Erdene and E. Khartsaga; for women, G. Munkhtsetseg, B. Onon and B. Badamgarav.

Also, a cultural night was staged with several art performances, a quiz, gift exchange and awarding ceremony. 

MSPU President has awarded athletes-journalists who captured bronze medals at Jeonbuk 2023 Asia & Pacific Masters Sports Games: A. Tamir-golf, B. Munkh-Erdene-bowling and D.Bayarsaikhan-football.

Also, this day "Tavan Tsagarig" newspaper sports journalist R. Manlai won a silver medal at the Draughts National Championships in Khovd city, thus dedicating a nice surprise to the MSPU collective celebrating World Sports Journalists Day.
