New OCA President to host next Executive Board meeting in Kuwait

Bangkok, Thailand, July 8, 2023: The 42nd OCA General Assembly in Bangkok on Saturday ended with a new President in Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Sabah, a new host city for the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, Asian Games progress reports and a thankful Acting President, Raja Randhir Singh.

Sheikh Talal announced that the OCA Executive Board would convene in his home country, Kuwait, in the near future to complete all the business of the 42nd General Assembly, such as the announcement of the Chairs and members of the various standing committees.

The 43rd OCA General Assembly will be in Bangkok in February 2024, on the sidelines of the rearranged sixth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

During the 42nd General Assembly, there was also a vote for the OCA Vice President for West Asia. The incumbent, Dr. Thani Al Kuwari (Qatar), earned 26 votes to the 18 of Osama Al Shafer of United Arab Emirates.

In closing the meeting, Raja Randhir thanked the members of the Executive Board, the OCA HQ staff and the National Olympic Committees for their service and support during his time as Acting OCA President since 2021.
