HAGOC provides IBC info to TV broadcasters in Hangzhou

Hangzhou, China, June 29, 2023: The second World Broadcasters’ Meeting (WBM) for the 19th Asian Games was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Hangzhou on Thursday, June 29.

The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) informed the broadcasters that the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) would move into full operation mode on September 18 – five days before the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games on September 23.

The IBC, along with the Main Press Centre (MPC), is located in the Main Media Centre (MMC) at the Hangzhou International Expo Centre near the main sports hub of the 19th Asian Games, which will run from September 23 to October 8 with 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 483 events.

The second WBM was attended by representatives of host broadcaster China Media Group (CMG) as well as TV broadcasters from many countries and regions, including China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, Philippines and Chinese Taipei.

On behalf of the OCA Director General Mr. Husain Al Musallam, the OCA’s Director of Media and Broadcast, Mr. Jeans Zhou Jian, addressed the opening ceremony. “I am very happy to see so many TV rights-holding broadcasters from Asia joining this second World Broadcasters’ Meeting in Hangzhou. It reconfirms that the media has played a big part in the success story of the Asian Games.”

On behalf of CMG, Mr. Zhao Jianjun said the second WBM was important to update the broadcasters and provide more information and knowledge for the successful TV and online broadcasting. He said: “I am confident that HAGOC will provide detailed presentations and the latest information in order for you to prepare your TV broadcasting in your countries and regions.”

HAGOC said the IBC would officially open from September 18 and provide modern facilities and technology in order to ensure the smooth and efficient operations for the rights-holders.

The Media Village, with 18 residential buildings and 2,551 apartments, will provide accommodation for 5,000 media professionals and will open on September 13.

HAGOC and broadcasters exchanged many ideas about media arrivals and departures, transportation and logistics, catering and accommodation and press accreditations.
