UAE NOC President Sheikh Ahmed underlines importance of sports in Olympic Day 2023 celebrations

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 22, 2023: The President of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has reaffirmed the NOC’s desire to continue playing a prominent and effective role in supporting the international Olympic movement.

 

Speaking on the occasion of Olympic Day 2023, Sheikh Ahmed, who is also the Second Deputy Governor of Dubai, confirmed the importance of spreading the principles of affection, tolerance and friendship, thereby establishing the role of sport as a means to enhance understanding and build closeness among the community.

 

Sheikh Ahmed underlined the willingness of the UAE NOC to provide a suitable sporting environment that contributes to uplifting the sports sector in the country in line with the vision of good leadership.

 

The UAE NOC is celebrating Olympic Day 2023 under the theme of "Let’s Move" at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and in conjunction with the worldwide celebration of the founding of the International Olympic Committee on June 23, 1894.

 

Sheikh Ahmed lauded the great efforts made by the UAE NOC Youth Council in coordinating the occasion and putting on a great show.

 

Meanwhile, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamid Al-Nuaimi, UAE NOC Vice President, emphasised the Olympic Day message which is to raise awareness of the importance of practising sports activities among all sections of the community.

 

The Olympic Day 2023 celebrations will coincide with the Dubai World of Sports which will continue until September 10 at the Zaabeel Halls of the Dubai World Trade Centre.
