Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, June 20, 2023: The Mongolia National Olympic Committee set the scene for a busy few days of Olympic activities in the capital Ulaanbaatar.
B. Bayartuya, Head of International Relations at Mongolia NOC, welcomed delegates from the Olympic Council of Asia and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee to Olympic House on Tuesday morning to discuss plans and preparations.
Delegates heard that the fifth and final leg of the OCA’s Asian Games Youth Reporter Project will kick off the programme on Thursday, June 22. Mongolia NOC has arranged for 25 students to join the three-hour sports media workshop, and the special guest for the press conference exercise will be three-time Olympian M. Urantsetseg, who won a judo bronze medal at women’s -48kg at Tokyo 2020.
The OCA, HAGOC and Mongolia NOC will then hold a joint press conference to promote the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run, which will be held at Sukhbaatar Square on Friday morning.
The President of Mongolia NOC, IOC Member Battushig Batbold, will provide the opening address before an art performance and tribute to Olympic medallists and veteran athletes who participated in the Olympic Games.
The 250 participants of the fun run will compete in three categories – boys, girls and adults (male and female) and OCA/HAGOC medals and certificates will be presented at the award ceremony.
The fun run programme will close with the launch of the countdown clock for the first East Asian Youth Games which Mongolia will host from August 16-23 with the expected participation of 1,500 athletes from nine countries and regions.
The Tuesday morning briefing closed with a tour of the Olympic Museum inside Olympic House.
