Hong Kong, China, June 18, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia has announced the latest winner of the OCA Asian Games Youth Reporter Project – Agatha Leung Nga Wing of Hong Kong, China.

Agatha, 20, was one of 12 students who attended the youth reporter project held in conjunction with the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China at the SF&OC offices in Causeway Bay on Friday.

The special guest at the workshop was triathlete Oscar Coggins, who represented Hong Kong, China at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and has targeted a medal at this year’s Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The 12 students asked Oscar questions about his life as a full-time athlete and his hopes for Hangzhou, and then had to write a news article of 350 words based on Oscar’s comments.

After a series of assessments, Agatha’s article was deemed the best effort for her news angle, story flow and conclusion, and she received a certificate of excellence from the OCA and SF&OC after the Olympic Day Run and Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run at West Kowloon Cultural District on Sunday.

Agatha will join the OCA media team at the Hangzhou Asian Games, which will run from September 23 to October 8.

“I am very excited to be going to Hangzhou to watch the Asian Games,” Agatha said.

“It will be very interesting to watch all the different sports live, to interview the athletes and to write my own articles about the Asian Games.”

Agatha will be part of a five-strong youth reporter team along with participants from Kuwait, Tajikistan, Palestine and Mongolia, which will hold the youth reporter project in Ulaanbaatar on Thursday, June 22.

Agatha is a student of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and also takes part in the Hong Kong Jockey Club media programme under the supervision of the Hong Kong Sports Press Association, which has its HQ in Olympic House.

“I like all ball sports, especially basketball, and I am looking forward to going to the esports, which will be in the Asian Games for the first time,” added Agatha, whose major is translation.
