Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, June 9, 2023: Mongolia National Olympic Committee reports that Olympic Day 2023 was celebrated with a sports festival at the 79th School of Bayanzurkh district of the capital Ulaanbaatar.
The sports day was organised by the Ministry of Education and Science within the framework of Olympic Day and featured exercise routines, boxing technique, 3x3 basketball, football and an obstacle race. The day was attended by civic and sports dignitaries and included a question-and-answer session with Olympic boxer Baatarsukh Chinzorig.
During the programme, the Ministry of Internal Affairs distributed sports equipment for the school's physical classes.
The 79th school was established in 1974 and now operates with 2,700 students, 180 teachers and employees. There are 10 sports sections such as basketball, boxing, volleyball, badminton, chess, tennis, athletics and wrestling, and the school has produced many famous athletes in the Olympic Games, world championships and other international competitions.
The Ministry of Education and Science is planning to organise a series of events to celebrate the International Olympic Day which falls annually on June 23.
Mongolia NOC is also taking part in the Olympic Council of Asia’s Asian Games for All promotion and will hold a children’s art competition, youth reporter project on June 22 and Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run on June 23.
