Thimphu, Bhutan, June 8, 2023: The Bhutan Olympic Committee held its 6th General Assembly at its headquarters in Thimphu. The GA held on May 31 brought together 34 member organisations, Olympians and two commissions to discuss matters essential to the BOC, its members and stakeholders.

The GA endorsed amendments to the BOC constitution and also discussed the need for federations and sports associations to review and implement their respective constitutions and governance structures, to create conducive environments for athletes to thrive and realise their full potential.

The GA also approved the Sport Prioritization proposal put forward by the BOC. This strategic approach will now allow an efficient allocation of attention and resources to select sports like athletics, archery, boxing, judo, football and taekwondo.

In order to encourage professionalism in sport, the GA also endorsed the revised entitlement guidelines, which will now offer increased allowance and benefits for national athletes.

The GA also endorsed the affiliation of Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association as an associate non-voting member. With this, the BOC now has 35 member affiliates.
