Youth at the heart of Kyrgyzstan leg of Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, May 31, 2023: Young children will be at the heart of the festivities in the Kyrgyzstan leg of the Asian Games Fun Run in the capital Bishkek on Thursday, June 1.

The President of the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Mamytov, who presided at the Asian Games Fun Run press conference on Wednesday, May 31, said youth would lead the way in the latest leg of the celebrations marking the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou China in September.

“The Fun Run will be for children between 11 and 14 years. We have also conducted a competition of children’s drawings on the theme of the Asian Games, and today, our young artists are present here and they will be awarded certificates after the press conference,” Mamytov said.

The Kyrgyzstan NOC President also expressed his gratitude and warmly welcomed representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia, Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, and athletes and officials from various federations on the eve of the Asian Games Fun Run.

HAGOC representative and Deputy Director of Human Resources Department, Yu Yongtao, noted that the Asian Games Fun Run in Bishkek symbolised the good relations and friendship among the people “of our two great cities and will help spread joy across Asia”. He added that the Fun Run would increase public interest in the Asian Games which takes place from September 23 to October 8.

OCA Projects and Operations Manager Wissam Trkmani thanked the Kyrgyzstan NOC for all the hard work in organising the Fun Run in Bishkek.

“We are honoured and delighted to be in the beautiful city of Bishkek to celebrate the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run. The Fun Run is unique because it is about sport, fun and friendship and is a festival for the family. Everyone can be involved in the Fun Run regardless of age, gender or athletic ability,” Trkmani said.

He added: “The Asian Games are a festival of diversity that brings all Asian nations together united by sports and the Olympic values of Friendship, Respect and Excellence. This is what we want to celebrate with the Fun Run.”

Ms. Du Dewen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic, invited all citizens of Kyrgyzstan to visit Hangzhou during the Asian Games.

“The Chinese compare the beauty of Hangzhou to the beauty of paradise. The beautiful city of Hangzhou is famous as a historical and cultural city of China and is one of the six ancient capitals of China. We invite athletes and friends of Kyrgyzstan to go to Hangzhou. We invite Kyrgyzstanis to tomorrow's Fun Run event,” Ambassador Du said.
