Hangzhou, China, May 28, 2023: The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee is inviting Asia’s National Olympic Committees to be part of the Torch Relay celebration.

As the Torch Relay for the 19th Asian Games is being held in China from September 8-20, HAGOC is excited to offer the opportunity for each NOC to nominate one torchbearer to participate in the torch relay activity on September 20. Each torchbearer will run for 50 metres.

NOCs have been asked to fill in a nomination form and send details of the candidate to HAGOC through noc@hangzhou2022.cn by no later than June 12.

HAGOC will review and confirm the final list of candidates with the approval of OCA.

The organising committee states that the nominated candidate must already have arrived in Hangzhou before September 20 and have a flexible schedule to take part in the relay. The torchbearer uniform will be provided by HAGOC, while the NOC shall arrange for the board and lodging for the candidate.

HAGOC has already held the Asian Games Ten Cities Tour around China partnered by Geely Auto – one of the official prestige partners of the 19th Asian Games – while the OCA has promoted the Games throughout the continent with their Asian Games for All campaign which includes the Asian Games Fun Run.

The 19th Asian Games will open on September 23, 2023 and run through October 8, with 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 483 events.
