Kathmandu, Nepal, May 25, 2023: The President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, welcomed and honoured two Government Ministers at a ceremony held at the NOC Headquarters in Satdobato on Wednesday, May 24.
The Nepal NOC felicitated the Youth and Sports Minister Dig Bahadur Limbu and Labour Employment and Social Security Minister Sharatsingh Bhandar in the presence of a large number of officials and dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Sports Minister Limbu called for sports to be free of political divisions and to move forward. He stated Nepal is set to participate in 28 sports at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.
In his turn, Labour Minister Bhandar, who is also an advisor to the NOC, said the Olympic Committee was an autonomous and independent organisation and underlined that all activities carried out by the NOC were important for the development of sports.
NOC Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha noted that, according to the new Sports Act, there will be only one National Olympic Committee in Nepal and also underlined the strong relationship between the NOC and the National Sports Council.
