Baghdad, Iraq, May 24, 2023: The National Olympic Committee of Iraq has ramped up its anti-doping preparations for the national squad which will compete at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.
The Iraq NOC’s anti-doping department has for the past few weeks been busy collecting and testing samples of athletes who are bound for the Hangzhou Asian Games, as well as ensuring that they all have an ADEL certificate – WADA’s anti-doping education and learning platform.
In a statement released on Tuesday, May 23, the Iraq NOC said: “We are continuing our campaign to educate and raise awareness among all national federations.
“The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee has informed all participating countries of the necessity for all athletes to obtain the international certificate (ADEL), otherwise the athlete will be barred from competing at the Games.”
The Iraq NOC’s anti-doping organisation has currently helped more than 80 Iraqi athletes to obtain these certificates. All athletes bound for Hangzhou will need to comply with these anti-doping regulations according to the Iraq NOC.
