OCA asks National Olympic Committees to register for Asian Ice Hockey Youth Camp in Tashkent

Kuwait City, Kuwait, May 4, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia has asked National Olympic Committees to register for the Asian Ice Hockey youth development camp to be run in collaboration with the International Ice Hockey Federation in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in early August.

A registration link for the 2023 OCA-IIHF Under-16 Asian Ice Hockey Youth Camp has been sent out and can be accessed on http://ocasia.org/oca-iihf-u16-asian-ice-hockey-youth-camp with a six-digit verification code which will be sent to the NOC email by the OCA IT Department.

The OCA youth camp which will for the first time focus solely on a winter sport - ice hockey – will be held from August 1-7 at the Humo Arena in Tashkent, and held under the auspices of the Olympic Solidarity continental programme.

Each NOC is entitled to send two young athletes born in or after 2007 – one boy and one girl. NOCs are not allowed to register two athletes of the same gender, but can register one athlete of either gender.

They can also send one coach and one game official, meaning a maximum of four participants from each NOC.

The OCA has sent a selection criteria list to the NOCs and has set a long list registration deadline of May 31. The shortlist of participants will be announced on June 15.

The youth camp is one of the most popular events for NOCs in the OCA’s Olympic Solidarity continental programme. Two previous youth camps were held by the OCA – for diving in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August, 2022 and for swimming in Doha, Qatar in 2019.
