Dushanbe, Tajikistan, April 18, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia and National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan completed the second stage of the OCA’s “Asian Games for All” promotional campaign on Tuesday morning.

At the invitation of the NOC, 50 students attended the Asian Games Youth Reporter Project at the state university of sport and physical education on the outskirts of the capital Dushanbe.

Special guest at the youth reporter programme was Tajikistan’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games champion in the men’s hammer throw, Dilshod Nazarov, who is now Vice President of the NOC.

In the press conference section of the programme, students asked questions and wrote a news article or essay on the information gleaned from Nazarov’s answers.

With entries in Tajik and English, a local commission will assist in providing a shortlist of four students whose essays were assessed on accuracy and creativity.

The winning entry will be announced at the Asian Games Fun Run on Wednesday morning and will be invited to join the OCA media team at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023.

The fun run will conclude the three elements of the Asian Games for All campaign, with the first phase, the children’s art competition, having taken place last Friday, April 14.

The OCA delegation was joined at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games Youth Reporter Project on Tuesday morning by three members of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC).

The overseas guests were greeted at the entrance to the university by a traditional welcome of bread and a bowl of salt and an honour guard of flag-waving students. They were then treated to an exhibition of teqball – one of the fastest growing sports in Asia.

The Secretary General of Tajikistan NOC, Muhammadsho Abdullozozda, conducted the opening ceremony with government and NOC officials, including Dilshod Nazarov.

The OCA Media Manager, Jeans Zhou Jian, thanked the local organisers for their preparations and also the HAGOC delegates for coming to Dushanbe and helping to promote the Asian Games. He also introduced the Asian Games Youth Reporter Project to the students and explained the workings of the three-hour workshop, including the press conference with the special guest and national hero from the Rio 2016 Olympics.
