Dushanbe, Tajikistan, April 17, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia and National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan held a meeting at the NOC headquarters on Monday afternoon to lay the groundwork for two days of Asian Games promotional activities.

On Tuesday, Tajikistan NOC will host the Asian Games Youth Reporter Project, with 50 students due to take part, starting at 9am.

The three-hour workshop will feature a press conference exercise with Tajikistan’s only Olympic Games champion, Dilshod Nazarov, who won the men’s hammer throw gold medal at Rio 2016.

The students will ask questions at the press conference and write a news article from the answers provided by Nazarov, who is now Vice President of the NOC.

A commission of local assessors will provide a shortlist of four entries, and the OCA will then select the best article – the writer of which will be invited to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September and October.

Following the youth reporter project, Tajikistan NOC, the OCA and delegates from the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) will hold a press conference at 4pm to promote the Tajikistan leg of the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run, which will start at 11am on Wednesday, April 19.

The Secretary General of Tajikistan NOC, Muhammadsho Abdullozoda, said all the preparations had been completed and that they were expecting between 700 and 800 runners to take part.

“Although we are still in Ramadan, the NOC of Tajikistan was determined to organise this very worthwhile and exciting ‘Asian Games for All’ campaign,” he said, referring to the Children’s Art Competition held on April 14, the youth reporter project on April 18 and fun run on April 19.

“We had over 60 students take part in the children’s art competition and we are in the process of selecting the best 10 – five girls and five boys. They really showed their enthusiasm for sport and for the Olympic movement and produced some very creative work.”

The OCA was represented at the meeting by Media Manager Jeans Zhou Jian and Projects and Operations Manager Wissam Trkmani. The OCA thanked Tajikistan NOC for all their hard work and preparations and said they were sure the three elements of the Asian Games for All campaign would introduce the Asian Games to a new generation of sports fans.
