Macau, China NOC to send 190 athletes to Hangzhou Asian Games

Macau, China, April 12, 2023: Chen Weiqiang, Executive Secretary General of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC) and Vice Mayor of Hangzhou, and Zhang Yadong, Deputy Secretary General of HAGOC and Deputy Director of Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau, met with Pun Weng Kun, Vice President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China and President of Macau Sports Bureau, in Hangzhou on Monday, April 10.

HAGOC extended a warm welcome to Pun Weng Kun and his delegation and thanked Macau for the strong support to the preparatory work of the Hangzhou Asian Games, which will take place from September 23 to October 8, 2023.

Chen Weiqiang pointed out that, at present, HAGOC was shifting from the preparation phase to the running phase and was now ready to sprint. 

HAGOC will further strengthen the contact and cooperation with the NOCs, in accordance with the overall work plan and the arrangement of important milestones, to lay a solid foundation for the success of the Games.

"Your active participation is the source of our confidence in the preparations," Chen said.

The HAGOC official said he expected the sports communities of the two regions to take the Hangzhou Asian Games as an opportunity to deepen mutual cooperation and to enhance the friendship between the two regions. He added that he expected the Macau, China delegation to achieve good results in the competition.

Pun Weng Kun said Macau planned to send about 190 athletes to compete in 21 sports.

During their time in Hangzhou, the Macau delegation visited the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium, Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Swimming Pool, Asian Games Village, Xiaoshan Guali Cultural and Sports Center and other venues, and had in-depth exchanges with HAGOC on domestic VIP reception, ticketing, registration and other related business areas.
