Baghdad, Iraq, March 31, 2023: The Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Haitham Abdulhameed, is continuing to coordinate preparations for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September and October.
The media committee of Iraq NOC reports that Haitham met with members of the technical committee charged with following the progress and preparations of the National Sports Associations in the build-up to the Asiad.
The Secretary General was briefed on the visits by members of the technical committee to the headquarters of various sports associations, their discussions with the board of directors and their assessment of training camps conducted for the athletes.
Mr Haitham received the reports on the various sports from the technical committee and will now hand them over for detailed study to the NOC general secretariat and executives. The performances of the athletes and their potential for the 19th Asian Games will be assessed in comparison with athletes of other countries.
This review will play a big part in the final preparations of the Iraqi athletes and teams in the months ahead, with the Asian Games set to run from September 23 to October 8.
