Jordan NOC hosts second ANOC technical directors’ seminar

Amman, Jordan, March 26, 2023: The Association of National Olympic Committees hosted the second edition of the ANOC Technical Directors Seminar in partnership with the Jordan Olympic Committee from March 18-21.

Representatives from 37 NOCs participated in the meeting and contributed to the constructive and interactive discussions on four key subject areas:

*Lessons learnt from Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022

*Sports calendar and qualification systems for the Olympic Games and Continental Games

*Safeguarding

*Social media

The seminar built on the success of the first edition held in Sintra, Portugal in November last year and was structured into presentations and smaller group workshops to promote exchange of ideas and experiences.

“The feedback from the seminar was very positive and saw a number of conclusions and recommendations across the four subject areas in order to enhance NOC and athlete experiences in the build up to and during major events and ensure they are safeguarded and promoted to the fullest extent,” ANOC said in a statement.

ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg added: “It has been another excellent Technical Directors Seminar with lots of insightful discussions. We would like to thank the JOC for the excellent organisation.

“The NOC Technical Directors have so much knowledge and experience and it is important they have the opportunity to share this with each other. In doing so we can learn lessons for the future which will ultimately benefit the athletes and the Olympic Movement.

“As part of our ANOC Strategic Plan we will continue to find ways for NOCs to interact and exchange best practice.”
