Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, March 12, 2023: The President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, got the Asian Games Fun Run underway at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque on Sunday morning.
Coming along to celebrate the fun run were the Asian foreign missions in Brunei and the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia and Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee.
The Brunei event marked the 16th leg of the Asian Games Fun Run to promote the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September.
Over 1,300 runners took part in five categories: male open, female open, male aged 12 and below, female aged 12 and below, and people with disabilities.
The male and female open categories raced over 3.4km, while the other three categories raced over 2km.
The President of the Brunei Darussalam NOC presented the medals, while all participants received a certificate signed by the OCA Director General, Husain Al Musallam.
The fun run programme also included a warm-up session.
The event was jointly organised by the Brunei Darussalam NOC and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and the National Sports Associations promoted the fun run within the sporting community.
