Karachi, Pakistan, March 13, 2023: The Pakistan Olympic Association in collaboration with the Sindh Olympic Association held an Educational Seminar/Workshop in Karachi on March 8 to introduce and deliberate upon Good Governance Practices in Sports Organisations.
The workshop aimed to disseminate the IOC’s Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance that provide the minimum standards of governance to be adopted by the constituents of the Olympic Movement.
Lt. Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan, President, Pakistan Olympic Association, welcomed the participants to the session and emphasised the importance of implementing good governance practices at all tiers of the sports organisations.
Dr. Junaid Ali Shah, Chairman, Sindh Olympic Association, commended the initiative of the Pakistan Olympic Association to organise the seminar/workshop to educate sports organizers of the latest governance practices.
Ms. Ronak Lakhani (Individual Member, POA), Syed Wasiimudiin Hashmi (Individual Member, POA), Mr. Ahmad Ali Rajput, Secretary General, Sindh Olympic Association, Ms. Veena Salman Masud, Associate Secretary General, POA, along with officials of various provincial sports associations were present at the occasion.
Mr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General, Pakistan Olympic Association, Mr. Muhammad Atif Shafiq and Dr. Tariq Ali Gujar (Phd) shared the ideas and practical information on Good Governance practices.
The POA will organise similar workshops at all the provincial and national capitals to disseminate the information on the essential practices of Good Governance in line with the IOC’s Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance.
