Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, March 13, 2023: The International Olympic Academy (IOA) Educational Project held in Riyadh for the academic year 2022-2023, in cooperation with the Saudi Olympic Academy, came to an end on March 11.
The Diploma in Olympic Studies was awarded to 70 participants, officials and staff of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the Saudi Olympic Academy in a symbolic ceremony, with the presence of the President of the Saudi Olympic Academy, HH Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Al Saud.
Following the reactivation of the Saudi Olympic Academy, and the signing of the MOU, last March, the IOA has managed to plan and implement an educational programme for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
With such synergies, the National Olympic Academies, as the main pillar of the IOA’s mission, are substantially involved in the development of Olympic Education and their role is being reinforced.
The IOA President, Mr Isidoros Kouvelos, stated in his speech: “It is, indeed, a powerful example for other NOAs to follow, especially in the Arab territory.
“We see very promising signs in these areas, and our common actions in the near future can bear fruit. I am confident that our collaborative framework will grow stronger, and we will expand the areas of our collaboration through different forms in order to cover a wide spectrum of target groups within the Arab society.”
There was an official announcement, after the IOA President’s proposal to the IOA Executive Board, of the appointment of the Saudi Olympic Academy President as an Honorary Member in the IOA.
HH Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Al Saud warmly thanked the IOA President, stating that he felt honored and that he would be committed to contribute, in every means, to the aims and work of the International Olympic Academy.
