Doha, Qatar, March 8, 2023: The Qatar Olympic Committee celebrated International Women’s Day 2023 at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab on Tuesday, March 7.
The focus of the celebrations was the recognition of Qatari women’s leading role in all aspects of society, especially sports.
A discussion panel kicked off the IWD event with the participation of leading Qatari women personalities including fencing star Lina Al-Buainain, 400m hurdler Mariam Fareed and Haya Burshaid, the founder of Wyld Gym.
The panel session targeted several key topics such as success storytelling, breaking boundaries, unlocking human potential and urging the next generation of girls to pursue their goals.
The International Women’s Day – which falls every year on March 8 – event in Doha also featured a run over two distances, 2.5 kilometres and 5km, with a wide participation of girls from different age groups.
