Hangzhou Asian Games marks 200-day countdown

Hangzhou, China, March 7, 2023: Hangzhou marked the 200-day countdown to the 19th Asian Games with a series of community events and activities on Tuesday, March 7.

Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China, will host the OCA’s premier event from September 23 to October 8, 2023 – and March 7 marked the 200-day countdown to the opening ceremony on September 23.

Various events were held to celebrate the landmark occasion, and athletes posted messages of support and outlined their hopes and dreams for the 19th Asian Games.

At 9.30 am, over 2,000 people from various districts, counties and industries gathered at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Tennis Center, known as the Little Lotus, to show that they are well prepared for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.

*In other news, the first batch of Hangzhou Asian Games official Esports merchandise was officially launched on March 7. Esports will be making its Asian Games debut as a full medal sport after being a demonstration sport in Jakarta/Palembang in 2018.

*Also, "Now until the Future", the official promotion song of the Hangzhou Asian Games, was released on March 7 and a performance by over 100 singers was posted on social media.

*Meanwhile, organisers stated that all venues for the Asian Games were ready. Hangzhou and the five co-host cities, namely Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing and Huzhou, ushered in the "Asian Games time" at full speed.

*A celebration gala themed “Spectacular Asian Games, Amazing Village” was due to be held at the Flag Plaza of the Asian Games Village in the afternoon. 

This activity was divided into a warm-up show and official show, themed "exploring the village" and "getting ready for spring". 

“Exploring the village" refers to the first opportunity for local people to experience the atmosphere of the Asian Games in advance, while "Getting ready for spring" refers to literary and artistic programmes to greet the arrival of spring.

The event aimed to mobilize more people to participate in the publicity of the Asian Games, so that more people can realize the dream related to the Asian Games, step on the stage of the Asian Games and show the culture and history of Zhejiang province in order to further create a vibrant Asian Games atmosphere.

*A flash mob performance was held in Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, known as the Big Lotus, to celebrate the 200-day countdown by singing "Beautiful Scenery." The Asian Games mascots and more than 300 people took part.
