Hangzhou, China, March 4, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia has been named a top exhibitor at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai last November.
The OCA has been awarded a Certificate of Honour by the CIIE for their display and their efforts to promote the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, which will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
News of the award was relayed to the OCA Director General, Husain Al-Musallam, by the Deputy Secretary General of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC), Mao Genhong, via a communique dated March 2, 2023.
“In November 2022, with support from the OCA, we were able to successfully stage an exhibition on the Hangzhou Asian Games at the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE),” wrote Mr Mao, who is also Director of the Executive Office of HAGOC.
“We presented the latest progress on preparations for the Asian Games which helped to increase its reach internationally.
“Thanks to the success of the exhibition, we are pleased to inform you that, in February 2023, the OCA as the exhibitor was named as one of the ‘Top Ten Exhibitors of Communication’ in the category of sporting goods and events at the Expo by the CIIE organisers.
“This is a major award that will help promote the Games and we plan to put the certificate on display in the Hangzhou Asian Games Museum.”
In closing, Deputy Secretary General Mao thanked Mr Al-Musallam and the OCA for their continued support of Games preparations.
The 5th CIIE was held from November 5-10, 2022 in China's economic hub Shanghai and welcomed participants from 145 countries, regions and international organisations.
