Luang Prabang, Laos, March 3, 2023: The Vice President and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Laos, Sengphone Phonsmath, introduced the format for the Laos leg of the Asian Games Fun Run during a press conference on Friday.

The 13th leg of the Asian Games Fun Run to promote the Hangzhou Asian Games this September will take place in Luang Prabang city centre on Saturday morning.

“The youth age group (under 17 years) will run 2km; the senior age group (over 50 years) will run 2km; and the young age group (over 17 years) will run 5km.”

The NOC Secretary General said the Asian Games Fun Run would not only promote host city Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China, but also the historic Luang Prabang province.

“The choice of Luang Prabang to host these events is a promotion for tourism for Luang Prabang province,” he added. “It will focus attention on Luang Prabang and attract tourists from all over the world.

“Luang Prabang has been a World Heritage City since 1995 and we are delighted to welcome the OCA and Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee so they can spread the word to the 45 member countries and regions in the future.”

Laos NOC also held an Asian Games children’s art competition and selected 10 winners – five girls and five boys – from the 50 students aged 13 and under.
