Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, March 2, 2023: HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, has lauded the goal of 2023 as a "Year of Sustainability" in his message to mark the 8th National Sports Day of the United Arab Emirates on March 2.
The UAE National Sports Day this year took place amongst a large gathering at the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub focusing on promoting sports and fitness among the UAE population.
In keeping with the national declaration by the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, HH Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayad Al Nahyan that 2023 is the Year of Sustainability, this year’s National Sports Day is focusing on sports sustainability and the slogan "Emirates Brings Us Together".
NOC President Sheikh Ahmed pointed out that the goal will be to deliver quality sporting events this year which will have sustainability at its core foundation. He said sport was the best way to bring all walks of society together and highlighted the benefits it brings to the community at all levels.
The National Sports Day is one of the biggest community participation events on the Abu Dhabi sporting calendar. This is the second time that the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub is hosting this event.
Organisers will showcase over 20 different sporting activities, with everything from golf and archery to rugby and football on display during the day. The main attraction was the UAE Walk for Sustainability 2023 with athletes, members of the community, dignitaries and officials all in attendance.
