Follow the Asian Games Fun Run in OCA’s new Sporting Asia

Kuwait City, Kuwait, February 24, 2023: The 60th edition of the OCA’s official newsletter Sporting Asia is ready for download at www.ocasia.org.

The latest newsletter looks ahead to a busy 2023, with the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September followed by the OCA’s 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Thailand in November.

The Asian Games Fun Run is now truly up and running and the new Sporting Asia has photos from the fun runs in Uzbekistan, Thailand, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Maldives and Sri Lanka. Sporting Asia will be following the fun run activities around the continent all the way until the start of the Asian Games on September 23, 2023.

The second stage of the OCA Development Programme for Referees and Coaches, which was held in Tashkent in November, the OCA Coordination Committee meeting for the AIMAG in Thailand, the first OCA Youth Reporter Project of the new series in Kuwait and the OCA/Olympic Solidarity Regional Forum in Saudi Arabia are also featured prominently in the new Sporting Asia.

In a new section, “International Federation Focus” looks at the change of name from FINA to World Aquatics and the reasons for the change, and acknowledges the election of OCA stalwart Tayyab Ikram as President of the International Hockey Federation.

Other regular features include the message from the Acting OCA President, Raja Randhir Singh, NOC News in Pictures expanded to 10 pages, six pages of build-up to the Hangzhou Asian Games, Inside the OCA, four pages of Women in Sport, led by the historic election of track legend PT Usha as President of the Indian Olympic Association, and OCA Sports Diary.

Sporting Asia was launched by the OCA Media Committee in 2009 and, with this 60th edition, begins its 15th season of news, photos and reports from OCA HQ, National Olympic Committees, games organising committees and other Olympic sources.
