Parliament Speaker/Singapore NOC President to flag off Asian Games Fun Run

Singapore, February 24, 2023: The President of the Singapore National Olympic Council, Tan Chuan Jin, will signal the start of the Asian Games Fun Run in Singapore on Saturday morning.

Mr. Tan, who is the Speaker of Parliament in Singapore, will be the guest of honour at the latest leg of the Asian Games Fun Run to promote the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023.

The SNOC President will flag the runners off at 8am, along with representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, and 900 people from the Singapore sports community are expected to take part.

The 3km run/walk will start at the National Stadium, known as Stadium Roar, and cover the surrounding area before ending at the same place. The participants will receive a specially designed souvenir T-shirt from the SNOC and an Asian Games medal from the OCA as a memory of the event.

The Assistant Secretary General of SNOC, Edmund Lim, hosted a meeting on Friday morning involving the OCA and HAGOC and discussed plans for the following day’s event.

“This will be the first time for Singapore NOC to host an Asian Games Fun Run and we are all looking forward to it,” he said.

“We will have some Singapore athletes taking part who will be in our team for the Asian Games and also school students and other members of the sports community.

“The latest indication is that we will have 900 runners but people will be able to arrive on the morning and take part.”

The OCA delegation in the meeting was led by the Director of the Media and Broadcast Department, Jeans Zhou Jian, and HAGOC by Xu Jing, of the Cultural Education Division.
