Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, February 20, 2023: India’s two-time Olympic golfer Aditi Ashok continued her amazing run by finishing second behind world number one Lydia Ko in the Aramco Saudi Ladies International on Sunday, February 19.
Aditi, starting the final round two shots behind the leader, fired a four-under 68 and finished 20-under at the US$5 million tournament. Ko (68) saved a crucial par on the final hole to win by one stroke on 21 under.
The second place meant that Aditi now has a win in Kenya, third place in Morocco and second place in Saudi in her last three tournaments in successive weeks on the Ladies European Tour.
Talking of her excellent start to the season, Aditi said: “Yeah, it’s been a great start. I think 20-under on this golf course, with the wind that we had on some of those days, I think it’s a pretty good score.”
“A superb start to 2023. Keep it up champion,” wrote the Sports Authority of India, sponsor of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) of which Aditi is a beneficiary.
Aditi has represented India at two Olympic Games, making her debut at Rio 2016 and finishing fourth at Tokyo.
