Asian Games Fun Run in Luang Prabang will provide tourist boost, says NOC Laos

Luang Prabang, Laos, February 14, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Asian Games Fun Run in Laos next month will serve a dual purpose.

Not only will it promote the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September, it will also boost tourism in the host city of Luang Prabang, according to the National Olympic Committee of Laos.

NOC Laos has made a social media call for people to take part in the Laos leg of the Asian Games Fun Run, which will take place at Luang Prabang on Saturday, March 4.

“We invite everyone to join the Fun Run activity to support the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China,” NOC Laos said in a Facebook post.

“The fun run is the contribution of the 45 member countries and regions of the Olympic Council of Asia towards supporting the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

“It is also about meeting to cooperate and share experiences. The fun run activities will be held in Luang Prabang to promote Luang Prabang as a world heritage city. Senior representatives of the OCA and Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee as well as participants will be able to see and experience the cultural beauty, ancient sites and natural attractions for themselves.

“The publicity surrounding the Asian Games Fun Run will attract more tourists to Luang Prabang.”

The Laos leg of the Asian Games Fun Run will feature three elements: 2km run for male and female youth aged 16 years and under; 2km run for senior male and female 50 years and older; 5km run for male and female athletes aged 17-49.
