Maldives NOC Secretary General stresses importance of anti-doping education

Male, Maldives, February 13, 2023: WADA Asia/Oceania Manager Kenny Lee Kyu Hwan and the Programme Development Manager of National Anti-Doping Organisation/Regional Anti-Doping Organisation Relations, Cui Ying, paid a courtesy visit to the Maldives Olympic Committee recently.

The World Anti-Doping Agency officials were in Male for the South Asian Regional Anti-Doping Organisation’s Member Country Representative meeting on February 4. South Asia RADO Manager Hussain Mohamed also accompanied the visitors.

During the meeting, Maldives Olympic Committee Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed thanked them for the courtesy visit and stressed the importance of providing WADA-approved level of education to athletes and officials who participate at multi-sports Games.

The MOC Secretary General indicated that Maldives athletes and their parents needed to be exposed to anti-doping education. The WADA officials agreed and said they were willing to provide assistance through the South Asian regional body to facilitate the education of the athletes.

The importance of National Sports Associations communicating the required information to athletes and officials who will be participating on the international stage was also discussed at the meeting.
