Phnom Penh, Cambodia, February 10, 2023: CAMSOC, the organising committee of the 32nd South East Asian Games in Cambodia this May, has announced broadcast plans for the 11-nation regional sports meet.
Cambodia will host the SEA Games for the first time in history from May 5-17 in the capital Phnom Penh and four co-hosting provinces, and Cambodia Sports Television (CSTV) has been appointed host broadcaster.
This week, CAMSOC confirmed that 16 sports would be shown live, along with the opening and closing ceremony, both of which will be held at the new Morodok Techo National Stadium.
The 16 sports are: athletics (track and field events only), aquatics (swimming and diving only), football, pétanque, volleyball, Kun Khmer (combat sport), badminton, sepaktakraw/chinlone, karate, taekwondo, boxing, basketball, pencak silat, hockey, table tennis and esports.
The headquarters of CSTV are located on the ground floor of the Olympic building, and the host broadcaster has over 180 staff preparing for the SEA Games and for the broadcasters meeting at the end of this month.
The International Broadcast Centre is being constructed on a site within the grounds of the Morodok Techo National Stadium, and there will also be rooms inside the stadium for the IBC and Main Press Centre.
The 32nd SEA Games will feature 581 events – 304 men’s events, 229 women’s events and 48 mixed – plus two demonstration sports.
