UAE NOC sets up seven-member Athletes Committee

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 5, 2023: The Executive Board of the United Arab Emirates Olympic Committee has approved the formation of a seven-strong Olympic Players’ Committee.

The goals of the newly established Olympic Players Committee, or Athletes Committee, will be to look after issues related to Olympians, to discuss matters with the National Olympic Committee on behalf of all national athletes, support athletes on and off the field, and represent athletes’ rights and interests.

The UAE NOC’s Athletes Committee comprises Yousif Mirza (former professional cyclist), Mohamed Al-Nakhi (equestrian), Faisal Al-Katbi (Olympic freestyle wrestler), Saif bin Fatis (Olympic shooter), Ali Khasif (footballer), Hawraa Al-Ajami (karate) and Fahima Falaknaz (boxer).

Another task of the UAE NOC’s Athletes Committee will be to keep in touch with the Athletes Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia and the International Olympic Committee.
