Male, Maldives, January 29, 2023: The Maldives Olympic Committee has chosen seven athletes who will receive Bank of Maldives Sports Scholarships to help them train overseas.
The Bank of Maldives Sports Scholarships was introduced as part of the series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the bank.
The President of Maldives Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdul Sattar, Bank of Maldives CEO and Managing Director Karl Stumke, officials from Maldives NOC and representatives from national sports associations attended a ceremony held at Male Table Tennis Hall to announce the recipients.
The recipients are Mariyam Ru-ya Ali (athletics), Mohamed Minhal Shamin (athletics), Mohamed Salim Abdul Samad (badminton), Shuba Mohamed Shareef (badminton), Fathimath Jumana Nimal (table tennis), Moosa Munsif Ahmed (table tennis) and Layan Mohamed Shamin (tennis).
The scholarship was announced to support athletes achieve their sporting potential through targeted programmes and provide fully funded backing for top national athletes to train and develop at recognised high-performance training centres worldwide.
