Malaysia’s diving world champion signs wall of fame

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, January 15, 2023: The Olympic Council of Malaysia welcomed the Olympic medalist in diving, Cheong Jun Hoong, to its headquarters on Wednesday, January 11.

Jun Hoong, 32, won an Olympic silver medal with Pandelela Rinong in the women’s 10m platform synchro at Rio 2016. 

Another career highlight came in 2017 when she won the gold medal at the FINA World Championships in Budapest in the 10m platform individual, making her Malaysia’s first diving world champion in history.

The three-time Olympian (London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020) was born in Ipoh, Perak and started diving at the age of 9. 

She attended Bukit Jalil Sports School and possesses a Bachelor Degree in Communications from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

She also represented Malaysia with distinction in multiple SEA Games, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games before retiring from the diving circuit.

Jun Hoong was invited to pen her autograph on the Wall of Fame of the Olympic Medalists section in the office of OCM.
