Doha, Qatar, January 11, 2023: The Vice President of the Qatar Football Association, Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Muhannadi, passed away on Tuesday, January 10. He was 66.
The death of Saud bin Abdulaziz, who also served as Vice President of the Asian Football Confederation, was announced by the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani.
“May God have mercy on Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Muhannadi, Vice President of the Qatar Football Association and Asian Football Confederation, and may he rest in peace,” Sheikh Joann wrote on his Twitter account.
“He served his country with all sincerity and devotion, so our condolences go out to his honourable family and to the Qatari and Asian federations. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” the Qatari royal added.
Ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Al-Muhannadi was elected a FIFA Council member and contributed to the hosting of what is now regarded as the best World Cup in modern history.
The Qatar Olympic Committee also mourned his death and extended deep condolences to his family and relatives.
