Lahore, Pakistan, January 10, 2023: The Pakistan Olympic Association will launch an Urdu translation of the International Olympic Committee sport administration manual on Wednesday, January 11.

The manual, translated from English to Urdu, has been undertaken in conjunction with IOC’s Olympic Solidarity programme. The official launch ceremony will be held at the POA Headquarters in Lahore.

The IOC sport administration manual serves as the basic guidelines for running a National Olympic Committee. It is the textbook for sport administration courses, which are organised as part of an Olympic Solidarity NOC management programme.

The manual, which runs into more than 350 pages, is split into five main categories: Olympic background, values and issues, management, developing elite athletes, and Olympic Games selection and mission.

Olympic background covers everything from the modern Olympic Movement to the IOC and NOCs, International Federations and various Games including the Olympics and Continental Games.

Among the topics covered by values and issues are Olympic values, Sport for All, inclusion and equity, fair play, ethics in sport; while management looks at all the skills needed to successfully run a sport organisation.

The section on developing elite athletes covers areas like sports medicine, anti-doping, sports science and talent identification.
