Hong Kong, China, January 4, 2023: After the pandemic-affected tournaments of recent years, the Hong Kong rugby community was out in full force to welcome the New Year’s Day Youth Rugby Tournament at Hong Kong Football Club.
Over 1,500 players, officials and supporters attended the tournament, which was sponsored by Hysan Development and First Point USA.
The stars of the show did not disappoint either, with four highly entertaining and close-run matches to ring in 2023.
The four matches featured girls and boys teams at under 16 and under 19 level, with the highlight being the Overseas Lions against a Dragons team composed of local students in the Middlesex Cup, which was first contested in 1967. The Overseas Lions scored three unanswered tries to win 19-0.
