Mongolia honours sports heroes at ‘Borte Chono’ annual awards

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, December 27: Mongolia held the prestigious “Borte Chono” sports awards for 2022 at the Chinggis Museum.

Male athlete of the year went to Tsend-Ochir Tsogtbaatar, 26, judo world champion in Tashkent at -73kg, and the female award went to weightlifter Monkhjantsangin Ankhtsetseg, 25, for winning a silver medal in the 87kg category clean and jerk at the IWF World Championships in Colombia.

The men’s 3x3 basketball team won the team award for their performances in the FIBA series.

Jugder Otgontsagaan, adviser to the Mongolia National Olympic Committee, was named Best Sports Figure for his long service to the Olympic movement in the country especially in the field of international relations.

These awards began in 2002 and celebrated their 20th anniversary this year.
