Nepal NOC President calls for stakeholders to unite at AGM

Kathmandu, Nepal, December 25, 2022: The President of Nepal Olympic Committee, Hon. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, called on all stakeholders in sports to work together to raise standards at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the NOC on Friday, December 23.

The NOC President, who is also the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, urged all stakeholders to join hands for the overall development of sports.

“We don’t have any other option but to work together to take Nepali sports to the next level,” said President Shrestha in his keynote address at the AGM held at the NOC Headquarters in Satdobato.

NOC Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha presented the progress report for 2022 and also shed light on the programme for 2023. 

Similarly, NOC Treasurer Ratan Kumar Tandon submitted the estimated budget for 2023 and the financial statement for the current year. 

NOC Executive Secretary Sujanlal Shrestha also briefed the gathering about the upcoming international programme in 2023, with the major focus being on the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.

Other major competitions in 2023 include the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand from November 17 to 26 and the 2nd ANOC World Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia from August 5-12.

Meanwhile attendees were told that the final dates of the 14th Asian Games, scheduled to be held in 2023 in Pakistan, had yet not been finalised.
