Uzbekistan sports minister discusses skateboarding development with top Russian official

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, December 15, 2022: Top Uzbekistan sports official Adham Ikramov welcomed the President of the Russian Skateboarding Federation, Ilya Vdovin, on Wednesday, December 14, at the Ministry of Sports Development in Tashkent.

Minister Adham Ikramov met with the senior Russian skateboarding official and discussed the state of the Olympic sport which is relatively new in Uzbekistan – the Uzbekistan Skateboarding Association was only established this year.

Ikramov spoke in detail about the sport which has taken its first steps towards development and spelled out the measures being taken to increase the numbers of young skateboarding athletes.

Vdovin said he was happy to offer any help to popularise the sport in Uzbekistan, and agreed to the exchange of athletes between the two countries and to increase cooperation in order to prepare for major competitions.

Skateboarding made its debut as an Olympic sport at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Also attending the meeting was Secretary General of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, Oybek Kasimov, and Vice President of the Russian Skateboarding Federation, Irina Neuymina.
