Dushanbe, Tajikistan, December 13, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan conducted a seminar under the Olympic Council of Asia’s “Social Development Through Olympism and Education” programme from November 28 to December 8.

Social Development Through Olympism and Education is one of the projects offered to NOCs under the OCA’s Olympic Solidarity Continental Programme.

The seminar, which was run by the Athletes’ Committee of Tajikistan NOC, was attended by 18 female taekwondo athletes.

At the opening ceremony, the head of the Athletes’ Committee, Olympic boxing bronze medallist Mavzuna Choriyeva, said the purpose of holding the seminar was to attract more women to take part in sports.

“The Olympic Movement pays special attention to the position of women and gender equality. That is why equal participation of men and women is expected at the Paris 2024 Olympics,” Choriyeva pointed out.

“In this regard, the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan is also taking measures to attract women to sports. We are happy that a large number of women participate in the Olympic sport of taekwondo and, by holding events like this, we can attract girls to other sports as well,” Choriyeva added.

Sports and taekwondo specialist Ismatullo Khojaev gave lectures on various topics on the first five days. The last half of the programme was dedicated to competitions, and medals were awarded to the winners. All participants received taekwondo equipment.
