Sri Lanka NOC targets primary school teachers at Olympic Academy course

Colombo, Sri Lanka, December 7, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka concluded the 18th edition of the National Olympic Academy last Sunday, December 4.

The four-day camp, held from December 1-4 in the hill town holiday resort of Bandarawela, 200 km from the capital Colombo, was inaugurated by the Immediate Past President of the NOC, Hemasiri Fernando, along with NOC Academic Director B.L.H. Perera.

The event, which was not staged in 2020 due to COVID-19, is held annually, and this year’s focus was on promoting Olympic values among young schoolchildren. The theme was “Olympism Towards Prospering the National Character”.

Last year, the event was held virtually.

The programme was aimed at primary school teachers, and 30 attended the four-day camp – 15 male and 15 female teachers – including regional participation from Nepal, Pakistan and the Maldives.
