Oman Olympic Academy holds talent identification course for school teachers

Muscat, Oman, December 6, 2022: The Oman Olympic Academy began a three-day course for teachers to identify young talent in schools on Monday, December 5.

Dr. Majid bin Saeed Al-Busafi, Director of the Humanitarian Research Centre at Sultan Qaboos University, is the main lecturer at the December 5-7 course which is being attended by 20 male and female teachers from the Oman School Sports Association as well as public and private schools.

The Oman Olympic Academy, which comes under the umbrella of the Oman Olympic Committee, was inaugurated in December 2018 with the mission to disseminate and promote Olympic values and philosophy.

The course aims to shed light on the different stages of sports selection and the sciences related to the training process. It will also focus on the importance of school sports as the main base for uncovering young talent.

The course will include both theoretical lectures and practical applications, and mainly emphasise the key aspects of identifying talented young athletes.
