Squash legend Nicol David receives Diamond Award for lifetime achievements

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, December 3, 2022: The awards continue to come for Malaysia’s retired squash ace Nicol David.

Nicol, the eight-time world champion and widely regarded as the greatest women’s player in squash history, received the Diamond Award from Tatler Malaysia for her lifetime achievements in sport and her contribution to society with her foundation @nicoldavidorganisation. 

“What a special night,” she posted on her Facebook account, which has 903,000 followers.

“I will always feel humbled and overwhelmed to be recognised and, in my heart, my only true mission has always been to give back whatever was given to me.

“Was very emotional to have beautiful words said by my co-founder Mariana de Reyes who brought tears to my eyes. 

“My dream is to keep inspiring, keep giving and making sure all my Little Legends can dream big like I did.”

The awards night was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Kuala Lumpur 

Nicol, 39, is the pride of Penang, having won 81 titles on the professional squash tour before retiring in 2019. She was voted World Games Greatest Athlete of All Time in 2021.
