Male, Maldives, December 3, 2022: Maldives’ table tennis great Mueena Mohamed has earned a top award in the women’s sport and business sector.
Mueena won the “Leadership Excellence in the Field of Sports” category at the Professional and Career Women Awards 2022.
Mueena is the CEO of M Fit, specialising in sports rehab and strength and conditioning, and inspiring girls and women to strive for the top.
As an athlete, Mueena - nicknamed Muee - won the national women’s table tennis singles championship on 15 occasions, including 13 in a row, and has also won gold, silver and bronze medals for her country in the Indian Ocean Island Games in 2011, 2015 and 2019.
During her career she developed a keen interest in fitness, rehab from sports injuries and strength and conditioning and has worked for the Football Association of Maldives with the women’s national team and girls’ under 19 team.
She has also opened a gym with the purpose of helping female athletes to never give up on their dream and to overcome any obstacles in their way.
