Kuwait City, Kuwait, November 28, 2022: The Kuwait Olympic Committee hosted the Asian Games Fun Run at their headquarters at Jaber Al Ahmad City on Monday, November 28.
Five schools in Kuwait sent a total of 182 students to take part in the festivities, which involved a series of warm-up exercises before the schools took it in turn to race around the athletics track in the plush sports complex.
The top three girls and boys from each race were rewarded with Hangzhou Asian Games mascots, while medals and certificates were also presented by dignitaries.
The five schools were Future School, AMSB Indian School, Ajial Bilingual School, Kuwait School and the British School of Kuwait.
The VIP guests included the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Husain Al-Musallam, who is Secretary General of Kuwait Olympic Committee, and the KOC Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Ali Al-Marri.
The Asian Games Fun Run was also attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, His Excellency Zhang Jianwei, who helped to present the prizes to the students.
“I would like to thank the Kuwait Olympic Committee for organising this special Asian Games Fun Run to promote the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in 2023,” he said.
“It is very interesting to see so many students here, not only taking part in the Asian Games Fun Run but also enjoying themselves and having fun together. Children are the future and the fact that they like to join in these sports activities is very good.”
Looking ahead to the 19th Asian Games, which will take place from September 23 to October 8, 2023, in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China, the Ambassador added: “Hangzhou is a beautiful city and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone from Asia and providing the best hospitality.
“The Hangzhou Asian Games is a very important platform to strengthen the friendship between China and Kuwait.
“China and Kuwait have a deep friendship and long history of good cooperation. Kuwait is entering a new era,” he said.
After the Asian Games Fun Run, the students broke up into small groups to play some of the mini sports games on offer, including football, kids’ fencing, skipping, archery and ping pong.
