Sri Lanka NOC promotes ‘My Gender My Strength’ table tennis initiative

Colombo, Sri Lanka, November 25, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka reports that 155 women and girls took part in the “My Gender My Strength” development project conducted by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL).

The All Women/Girls Table Tennis Coaching Camp took place in Colombo on November 18-19 and in Jaffna on November 19. This was followed by the all-island championship at the Central College Jaffna on November 19-20.

The activities were conducted by the Women’s Affairs Committee, Coaching and Development Committee and Tournament Committee of TTASL under the auspices of the International Table Tennis Federation.

A total of 155 women and girls joined the coaching camps and 152 registered for the all-island championship, which was not a ranking tournament.

The chief guest was Mr. Mohammed Intikab Muthalib, area manager of Raigam in Jaffna, who distributed the main awards.

Evon Mayumi Weeraparakrama of Lyceum International School, Kurunegala was named Outstanding Player and received a one-year sponsorship offered by Sports Plus Sports Club, containing equipment packages and clothes. She won the girls’ under 13, girls’ under 15 and women’s singles events.
